26. Work With A Sense Of Urgency.
Work as quickly and productively as possible, but never sacrifice quality or safety. Don’t put off till tomorrow what can be completed today. Deal with it now. Act decisively. Hustle. Get stuff done.
Dave's Message:
A wise man (Jay Blaushild) once said “There are three kinds of people in this world”, as follows,
- People who make things happen
- People who watch things happen
- People who wonder what happened
This ties directly into this week’s fundamental “Work with a sense of urgency”. In this great era of technological advancements, each day we are bombarded with emails, texts and phone calls (and even sometimes personal visits at our work stations). Do we often wonder how we will get it all completed by days end?? However, we will systematically start at the top of our list and prioritize and then respond accordingly. Some responses can be made quickly and effortlessly, while others may require research that takes longer. Nevertheless, we will always respond even if the answer is “I need to research further and get back to you tomorrow” because at least a response was given and “the answer is forthcoming, rather than no response at all”. We should also always remember to be comfortable that our answers are accurate as well as timely. Nobody wants a wrong answer, no matter how quickly we respond…
This week practice being that Person that makes things happen, by Working with a Sense of Urgency!
Thank you for reading this and enjoy your week!
