14. Be Humble.

Don’t let your own ego get in the way of doing what’s best for the team. Be open to learning from others, no matter what role they have, and regardless of their age, industry, experience, or years with the company. Everyone has something he/she can teach us, and everyone’s perspective has value.

Kevin's Message:

Think back to the last great idea you had. Did the idea belong to you? Or was it just an idea? I believe that if our perspective is the latter we will do a better job of making decisions for our organization.

If we detach ego from our ideas, we’ll naturally seek the best solution rather than working to validate our own opinions/beliefs/ideas.

This mindset means thinking globally and putting company goals above those of our department, branch and self.

It also means being a ‘servant leader’; working for your team, not the other way around.

”True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.” -C.S. Lewis

Let’s take this week to practice serving with humility. If everyone works for each other, it’s amazing how much we can accomplish!
